Albion cruised to victory in the fourth round of the Adobe Women's FA Cup on Sunday as they defeated Luton Town Ladies 6-0.
Goals from Vea Sarri, Vicky Losada, Elisabeth Terland, Pauline Bremer and a double from Tatiana Pinto ensured the visitors weren't going to be the shock of the round.
While Albion enjoyed the lion’s share of possession at Barton Rovers' Sharpenhoe Road they failed to make their dominance pay in the opening half an hour.
Katie Robinson fired into the side netting when she should have scored after 20 seconds, before goalkeeper Amy Butler pulled off a number of impressive saves to deny Melissa Phillips’s team.
Bremer was denied from an offside position before the stopper tipped the German’s effort over from 12 yards.
Poppy Pattinson appeared to have given Albion the lead when she tapped in after 15 minutes but again the flag went up for offside. Bremer couldn't get the better of Butler when the forward shot from close range straight into the keeper's hands, but Luton's number one was harshly punished after pulling off the save of the game.
Albion celebrate taking the lead at Luton.
Having stretched acrobatically to tip Julia Zigiotti’s curled effort onto the crossbar, Sarri was there to poke in the opener after 33 minutes when the loose ball dropped at her feet.
Albion had their second of the afternoon four minutes later when the Greece international crossed in from the right and Losada nodded in from close range.
Sarri appeared to have made it 3-0 just before half-time, but the flag eventually went up to deny the winger her second of the day.
Vicky Losada extended Albion's lead on the afternoon.
Phillips made four changes at the beginning of the second half and two of them combined to extend Albion’s lead just three after the restart. Maisie Symonds put Pinto through on goal and the Portuguese defender calmly rolled the ball into the bottom left corner.
The visitors appeared to be finding their cutting edge as another substitute, Terland, made it 4-0. Bremer played a nice ball in behind and the Norway striker continued her fine form in front of goal to slot in for her ninth of the campaign.
Pinto had her second of the afternoon when she nodded in from Losada's corner with 20 minutes to play, before Andie Dickens blazed Luton's only real chance of the afternoon well wide from 22 yards.
Tatiana Pinto got a brace as a second half substitute.
The personal battle between Butler and Bremer was settled with two minutes to play as the Albion player pinched possession on the edge of the Luton box before running in on goal and slotting into the bottom left corner.
The draw for the fifth round will be on BBC Radio 5 Live at 7.30pm on Monday. Ties will take place on the weekend of 10-11 February 2024.
