Brighton & Hove Albion’s under-18s were beaten 1-0 by Southampton at their Staplewood Training Complex.

Enzo Robise’s strike just past the hour mark gave the Saints all three points, as Mark Beard’s and Mikey Harris’s side lost for a fourth time this season.

The hosts had their first chance inside the opening give minutes when Will Ferry saW his shot blocked from inside the six-yard box.

Ferry then picked out Kornelius Hansen in the box, but Seagulls shot-stopper Roco Rees was on hand to make a smart save.

Dan Bartlett then set up Robise in space, and the latter’s shot cannoned off the base of the near post.

There was another nervy moment for Albion when Rees spilled Robise’s free kick inside the box, but recovered quickly to keep out Pascal Kpohomouh’s effort.

The hosts continued to mount pressure on the Seagulls goal, as Kayne Ramsay saw his header cleared off the line.

Albion’s best chance of the first half came when Ryan Longman’s cross was almost met by Danny Cashman before the ball went just past Jack Bycroft’s post.

The Seagulls continued their improvement after the break when Jayden Onen played a brilliant ball across the six-yard box, which narrowly missed the onrushing Cashman.

Cashman then headed just wide of the post from Onen’s cross, before the hosts broke the deadlock on the hour mark.

Robise’s free-kick from the left-hand side of the penalty box, floated all the way through past Rees and nestled into the bottom corner.

Ayo Tanimowo had a brilliant chance to equalise when he headed Onen’s cross just over the bar, but Southampton claimed the three points.
