Goal!

Watson
SIX OF THE BEST! Brajan Gruda wins possession deep in the Oxford half, he finds Watson and the winger whips it into the top right corner! Debut goals for Olivier Boscagli, Stefanos Tzimas and Tommy Watson. A brilliant night in the cup!
81'
That is absolutely insane goalkeeping and defending. Albion fans sing 'England's number one' and to be fair off the back of this performance, Jason Steele is in with a shout. He keeps out a shot from just inside the box, before rushing out to parry a follow up, and just as you think he's beaten, Baleba clears another shot off the line. Albion have fully merited their five goals this evening, but Jason Steele, and on this occasion Carlos Baleba, are fully to thank for the clean sheet.
79'
Jason Steele has not had a quiet night despite what the scoreline suggests. It's Sibley this time who wallops one from a tight angle and the stopper has to be alert to keep it out and put it behind for a corner.

Substitution

Babis Kostoulas is now on for his Albion debut, he replaces James Milner. If he has half the impact that his compatriot has made off the bench this evening then everyone will go home very happy.

Goal!

Tzimas
TZIMAS AGAIN!!! This is one hell of an introduction for Stefanos Tzimas. It's an assist for Harry Howell as he finds the Greek striker and he curls it in from the edge of the box. 5-0. Game over.

Goal!

Tzimas
A DEBUT GOAL FOR STEFANOS TZIMAS!!! The visiting crowd had suggested they might enjoy an alcoholic beverage should Tzimas score, and he's done so. The striker races in on goal and shows excellent composure to slot home Albion's fourth!

Substitution

Triple Albion change. Kadioglu, Hinshelwood and Diego Gomez are replaced by Stefanos Tzimas, Carlos Baleba and Tommy Watson. A first look at Tommy Watson and Stef Tzimas in Albion shirts.
64'
Cameron Brannagan's free-kick flies through the wall, it's got plenty of zip, but Steele is more than equal to it, diving down on the effort.

Goal!

Gómez
DIEGO GOMEZ ADDS A THIRD FOR ALBION! Brajan Gruda's corner is nodded down by Coppola and Gomez is there to prod home. The Diego's combine. It's 3-0 to the Albion.
59'
Ferdi has another effort hit an Oxford player, this time he has a first-time effort from 20 yards go behind for a corner.
56'
That's a huge chance for Kadioglu! The winger sees his shot from ten yards look destined for the bottom left corner, but Phillips throws a leg at it to flick it behind for a corner!
46'

BACK OUT FOR THE SECOND HALF

The players are back out for the second 45. Fabian Hurzeler hasn't made any changes, so it's as you were. James Milner gets things back underway.
45'+8'

KADIOGLU NEEDS TREATMENT

The defender is caught by Mills and play is only stopped after Igor is then fouled. The Turkey international looks like he'll be alright after treatment.

Half-Time

The half-time whistle goes. Albion lead 2-0.
38'
Another top Jason Steele save. Joel Veltman's pass is intercepted by striker Mark Harris who pings it at goal from the edge of the box, but Steele gets a leg on it to keep it out of the Albion net. Two vital saves from him so far.
35'
That's easy enough for Ingram to claim in the end, as Hinshelwood gets a good header on Gomez's cross, but it's straight into the arms of the Oxford keeper. Albion on the whole are dominating this one.

Goal!

Gruda
BRAJAN BANGS ONE IN!!! Joel Veltman finds the run of Gruda into the box, he takes a touch to take Moore out of the equation and then lashes the ball into the top right corner on the half volley!

Goal!

Boscagli
ALBION HAVE THE LEAD! It's a debut goal for Olivier Boscagli. Brajan Gruda looks to make amends for his earlier miss by dancing around a number of Oxford defenders before teeing up Boscagli on the right of the box. He cuts it onto his left and shoots, it takes a big deflection which takes it up and over Ingram and into the back of the net!
12'

GRUDA SHOULD SCORE

James Milner plays Brajan Gruda in on goal, he takes it around Ingram, but instead of hitting it right footed, he takes a touch and that allows an Oxford United defender to run in poke it behind for a corner! Huge chance missed.

Corner

Ferdi Kadioglu wins a corner after bringing James Milner's cross down with a lovely touch, before seeing his curler from just outside the box take a nick off a defender and go behind for a corner.
5'

HOW ALBION LOOK

So it's a back four of Veltman, Boscagli, Coppola, Igor. Two midfielders in Milner and Hinshelwood, and then a front four of Howell, Gruda, Gomez and Kadioglu.
1'
Incredible Jason Steele save. A mix up at the back sees Placheta have a chance to shoot from close, but Steele pulls off an terrific reflex save. Albion then go down the other end and Diego Gomez races through, but his shot from just inside the area is kept out by Ingram! Electric start to this one.

UNDERWAY AT OXFORD UNITED

The hosts get us underway. 1500 or so supporters in the away end. Let's go.

HERE COME THE TEAMS

James Milner leads Albion out, his first competitive start since September 2024.

FABIAN'S PRE-MATCH THOUGHTS

Fabian, you've made 11 changes to the team tonight... "They deserve to play because they trained well. We have a big squad at the moment. We have a lot of competition, so we want to give them a chance to show that they can prove that we have big competition and that we want to get to the next round. So I think that's the most important reason why we made 11 changes today." The Greek strikers are on the bench today, are they not ready to start? "If they were ready I think that they would've started. But at the moment they're still in a phase where they have to adapt. Let's see if they get some minutes today. They're getting closer, so it's only a question of time." What are you expecting from Oxford? "I think they're a very compact team. They, they know how to defend. They have a big danger when they have set pieces. They have long throw-ins, They have tall players, they're a physical team and they know how to make good transitions. It's a good opportunity for us to grow. It's a good opportunity for us to outplay them. And this will be the challenge today. It won't be easy because they proved this season so far that it's not easy to play against them. But that's the challenge for today."
